Just over half of U.S. adults (53%) possess an intermediate level of health literacy, meaning they can interpret or apply health information presented in fairly complex text or graphics, according to a study released this week by the National Center for Education Statistics. Another 12% of adults are proficient enough to perform more complex and challenging acetaminophen health literacy activities, while 22% can perform simple and everyday health literacy activities and 14% have below basic level skills, the authors say. The study found women had higher average health literacy than men,buspar and white and Asian/Pacific Islander adults had higher health literacy than other racial and ethnic minorities. SEE YOU |
